If you want your blog to rise above the rest, then it is necessary to network with other bloggers. The blogosphere is one large interconnected community. Like any community, if you want your blog to be successful, then you are going to need the help of others. But how can you get this help?

- Comment on Other Blogs: When you are first starting out, this is probably the best and easiest way to put yourself out there. There are quite a few benefits to doing this. When you comment on another blog, you get to leave a link back to your own blog. People love to have comments left on their blog. The blog owner will probably check your blog out, and if he likes it, he may mention it in his next blog post or add a link to your blog. You will also get people who read your comment to click through to your site.
- Social Media: Most bloggers love sites like Facebook and Twitter. These sites are a great place to start conversations with them. Read a previous post about different social WordPress plugins that you could use on your website or blog.
- Networking Events: Many times throughout the year, there are special networking events held throughout the world where bloggers can gather together and meet each other face to face. If you are trying to make it big in the blogger world and you aren’t regularly going to these events, you may be missing out. Many partnerships and deals are struck at events like these. It is also a great time to meet bloggers who may have never heard of you before.
- Be Opportunistic: Besides these standard channels, you should always keep your eyes open for unexpected opportunities that may come your way. You never know when a blogger may have a special request or have a special need. If you happen to have the skill to help that big-time blogger, you may be able to get your foot in the door in a big way.
- Be Accessible: You should always be accessible to your readers and to other bloggers. If they email you or leave a comment on your blog, make sure that you always answer it promptly.

Just because they haven’t replied doesn’t mean they have denied your request. They may have just been too busy or overlooked your email. - Connect Personally: Although on the Internet we may be used to communicating with other bloggers via email or Twitter, it doesn’t necessarily need to be that way. Don’t overlook the telephone as a communication tool. Talking with another person on the phone creates a deeper bond with that person than can ever be accomplished with emails.
- Links: Link to other people liberally and often. Most bloggers are curious and often check their stats. They can see if they are getting additional traffic from your website, and they will browse over to your site to find out why. If they like what they see, they may either link back to your or get in contact with you.
- Guest Posting: Guest posting is a common practice, and it’s not hard to understand why. It usually benefits both the blog owner and the guest poster. The blog owner gets free content on his blog and gets to take a little time off from constantly coming up with new stuff to post on his blog, and the guest poster gets to place his name and blog links in front of new eyes. You should consider guest posting on as many related blog as you can, as well as accepting guest posts when they are offered. I think commenting is a good way to get noticed, especially if you have a lot of time in your hands. But that is not to say that you devote a big chunk of you time doing these things without good content. Once you have content down then use social media.
@Michelle – Yes, one needs to balance your time when it comes to promoting posts, commenting on your blog and others, scheduling posts and then just surfing for the fun of it. If one does not balance their time then one could spend countless time not being productive at all and that could hurt you in the long run.
It is true that commenting on other blogs is very important, but this is only true if the comments left are of a high quality. To necessitate this one must always read the post carefully so that once it is understood you are able to leave a well thought out comment that adds value to the original post.
This sort of comment is more likely to impress the blog owner as well as others visiting that blog and is more likely to result in others visiting your blog in return.

@Sire – I agree with what you have stated. As a webmaster myself, I can see when a commentator has actually read the post or just left a comment for the sake of it. One needs to be honest and have some kind of feedback or comment that is related to the post.
I never did try to attend any events but I think that I will be attending a lot of them this year.

These are great tips! I found blog commenting and guest posting is the best way to build network and community in the blogosphere. Nevertheless, we have to do the right way in following these 2 methods, otherwise it may ruin your blog too. No spammy comment and lousy guest post.

You share some good ideas but I think guest posting is the best. You get an audience from another blog and a free backlink. Readers are more likely to check out your blog if they read an article from you rather just seeeing your link in the comments section.

@Sandeep – guest posting helps, but there are a few who say that posting on your own site is better than doing a guest post. I guess it all depends on what you are targetting and your long term goals.
