27 Links to help you with Thesis

As you know, I have recently moved over to using the Thesis theme and I’m just loving it. I had a few questions about how I could customize my theme as to make it unique and not seem like so many others on the net. I know many users do this and I guess I’m one of them :)

Questions and AnswersThis is a question I’m sure many Thesis and other premium/free theme users ask themselves when they purchase/download a theme. I know there is a support forum for Thesis and it is a thriving community with many questions and problems, but also answers and help. I tried to find links to help me, but there are just hundreds and hundreds of posts and I wanted to find the right answers to my questions in the shortest time.

I have been following Harsh from ShoutMeLoud.com for a few weeks now and it was the best thing ever. I can remember that I went to his site from a link left by CommentLuv plugin. After checking his site, I noticed he also used Thesis , his site is just fabulous by the way. If you haven’t been there, make sure you go have a look at his site as it is killer and the content is even better. You will definitely learn a few tricks and tips from him about many different topics.

Anyway, I sent him an email asking for assistance and he replied with loads of links and I thought it was nice of him. He could of just told me to check out the forum, but he went the extra mile and helped a friend in need. Thanks Harsh, I do appreciate it. It took me sometime to go through all the links he sent to see what I wanted to do and most of the changes were very quick and I really think anyone could do it. You just need to understand Thesis, I have been using it for less than a week and I’m happy to say that it’s not as hard as some people say it is.

I know many users/sites are not using Thesis and I must emphasis that it’s a theme that you can manage and change with ease. Thesis has somewhat revived my way of thinking when trying to change your site and I have great respect for the developers as they really made it simple and easy. My old theme (One Theme) took me long to understand what and how the developers thought with regards to adding simple CSS and basic features.

I have listed the links below, have a look as there might be something you would like to change or add to your site.

I have made some changes to my theme in the last few days and will continue to do so. Most of the changes are from the links above and others that I have found. Have a look and let me know what you think.

New changes to my theme are:

  1. Added a header image at the top.
  2. Moved the navigation menu below the header image.
  3. Made it change colors on the navigation menu when clicked or hovered over.
  4. Put a border around my site and changed the background color. I might still change it to use an image, still debating on that.
  5. Added Adsense inside my posts below the title.
  6. Showing related posts at the bottom of the posts.
  7. Added widgets to the footer and used a different color for background.
  8. Added copyright to footer.

One of the reasons for adding the links in this post is to help everyone and of course myself. I hope that you enjoyed this post and would comment on what you liked and disliked.

Pay % of commission back to youIf you are interested in buying the Thesis theme, you can click on any of the Thesis banners in my sidebar. Yes, I will make commission from the sale, but I will give something back to you.

A heck of a lot of people are using the thesis theme. I have only read hugely positive reviews of thesis so far. So no wonder more and more people are switching to it.
Also from what I have heard the developer also provides excellent support.

@Pallab – The support and help is terrific. Everyone is just so nice. I have been busy the last day finding out what a fool I was using any other theme, but Thesis.

I hope I did not offend anyone, just kicking myself in the head.

@ George
Thanks a lot for the great words you have written here and I really appreciate it.
I still have no clue what more I should write here in the comment because it may sound like shameless promotion. So I will take an off from here by adding you are doing a great job and I’m sure you will do great in the coming time.
Regards
Harsh

Meanwhile George under tweetememe setting option you can change the Twitter Id to reflect your twitter id and this way you will be notified when someone will tweet your post.
In case your twitter profile is still now active, I highly recommend to create a new one and start using Twitter using Tweetdeck. You will see the benefit in real time.

@Tinh – my footer I got from Asnio.com (Footer Mod) and then I just played around with the CSS styling for it. The footer area is widgetized so it’s easy to update and change.
