Actually I think that this set of tips could be used for all kinds of freelance career opportunities, not for web design only…) I could come up with some disadvantages…but I would rather just say thanks : )

The only set back of being a freelancer is that there is no assurance that you are going to earn every time.

Wow, I totally disagree with points 2 and 3. Clients want to control so much that it nullifies #3 and causes stress, nullifying #2.

Being a freelancer? it will bring you some advantages and disadvantages. But for me, as long as you are having a great time with what you are doing, disadvantage doesn’t mean at all.

Hi Neil, you’re absolutely right. These days there are plenty of opportunities for Freelance web designers. Also with freelancing we can do any works at any time to our convenience whereas with a day job in a company you have to focus on finishing the work in the given time and it will result in stress.

I found it very encouraging. Great idea about freelance job. I want it also to experience but i want to do further research and gather some information’s about it. It is important for me to do some planning before i go for that decision. Thanks for your good post, it makes me to think about it.

I’m a 15 year veteran in the web development business, and I’ve seen the gravy days of freelancing, and then I’ve seen the famine of freelancing (which has been a lot lately). Unfortunately there seems to be a major shift away from the customization of web design and development, and more toward template based blogs.

This may be a bit off subject, but I’ve noticed you have the CommentLuv plug-in with a WordPress based theme. I’ve tried to install that same plug-in and had nothing but trouble. Maybe I’m missing something, but I’d love to have it. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

There are certain drowbacks too. I recently had a very bad experienced with a freelancer. It was not a design project though but i still felt myself helpless even when i send money through escrow. It is painful when they don’t respond you your email for days. If it can be done 50% of more cost, i’d still design/get it done in-house if possible.
