Adding Google Buzz to your Posts & Pages using Google Buzz WordPress Plugin

The new buzz, excuse the pun, is Google Buzz which has just been introduced a while back. This WordPress plugin allows you to add a button to your posts/pages for users to share with others.

Basic Plugin Description

Automatically displays Google Buzz button for every post and pages. Google Buzz is shaping up to be an interesting new way to share content with your Gmail friends, so why not have a button for sharing blog posts/pages to the service? To make it work, you’ll need to make sure you’ve set up Google reader and included that in your Connected Sites on Buzz.

Please note that button image must be uploaded to your own server, but you could also use any other image.

@SmashinGeeks – yes, I also think Google Buzz is cool and it also helps that there is a WordPress plugin to make things simplier for others.

SmashinGeeks February 18, 2010 at 9:10 am

I agree with you , its a nice application.

Karen @ Blazing Minds February 17, 2010 at 2:35 pm

A simple way to add the Buzz to WP blogs, but I see you haven’t added it to your blog yet, is there a reason for that?

George Serradinho February 18, 2010 at 7:41 am

@Karen – I will be adding it soon, but won’t be using the plugin. I will rather just use the java script as I’m trying to keep the total number of plugins to a minimum.

James Moralde February 23, 2010 at 10:34 am

Totally agree. I have in fact started to learn ‘PHP ways’ of directly tweaking my blog because I have stopped adding any more plugins after I noticed that some are conflicting with the others and that having a crowd of plugins somehow slows load time.

@James – that’s good to know. I have coded the Tweetmeme, Digg, Shoutmeme, Facebook buttons at the bottom of my posts.

‘Google Buzz’ is a great plugin. But I loved the ‘All in One Webmaster’ even more. Thank you, George, for keeping an eye on the new things. It really helps.

I think it is best to directly put the button by code — it is a simple code indeed.

Jaydip Parikh February 18, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Seems wonderful plugin. I had used couple of other plugin by Arpit. This might be good one too. I just wrote a post about one other plugin. Now I think I have to wrote about comparison of both ;)

Anyways now we have to ride on that Google Buzz is going to buzz lot so We must have this plugin in place.
.-= Jaydip Parikh´s last blog ..How to add Google Buzz button to your Wordpress Blog ? =-.

George Serradinho February 18, 2010 at 4:54 pm

@Jaydip – glad to hear. I have just made it available via using code instead of using a plugin as I want to lower the amount of plugins I’m using. I’m currently on 25 and need to bring it down to 20 or lower.

C3M Digital February 19, 2010 at 3:25 am

It took me a few days to get used to “Buzz” but I am kind of liking it now and it’s great I can add a plug in for readers to buzz my posts. The only thing that still bothers me about it is all the clutter from people who have their Twitter stream attached to it. I did this at first then turned it off.

George Serradinho February 21, 2010 at 12:46 pm

@Extreme John – yes, you can embed simple code and I have done it here on my blog. I just can’t get the count to show which is a pitty, but I’m still looking around for that. I will send you the code via email, let me know if you need anything else.

Dennis Edell February 19, 2010 at 9:31 pm

A shame you must use gmail to use it. I get that they want to intertwine as much as possible, but also seems a little big-headed to assume so much.
.-= Dennis Edell´s last blog ..WANTED – Keyword Research Expert(s) =-.

George Serradinho February 21, 2010 at 12:50 pm

@Dennis – gmail is cool and most users have it. I will say that one needs a gmail account for emails and it’s also FREE.

Dennis Edell February 22, 2010 at 2:07 am

Wow a whole lotta assumptions goin on there. ;)

I briefly tried it and it irritated me to no end, I’m quite satisfied with what I use. :)

Hi George,
I like this plugin more than other plugins for Google Buzz. But still I m not using Google buzz on my blog as personally I don’t like Google Buzz that much. And one more thing I also wrote a post about Google Buzz last week where I list 6 different plugins for Google Buzz Button plz do check it

@loveish – thanks for your feedback. I will go see your post now ;) I have put the Buzz button on my blog, but I don’t use it that much. I will monitor it and see how things go, I might leave it or take it off.

Jacobyap February 21, 2010 at 6:41 am

Hi George, this is a great plugin. However I prefer to have a snippet of simple code instead of plugin. Do you have any Buzz code?

@Jacobyap – I will update the post with the code I’m using although it does not have the count in yet, still searching for that code.

Tinh February 21, 2010 at 12:07 pm

I recommend you to try WPBuzzer with count as shown on my blog and on Mashable. You can track visibly how many buzzes you get like Tweetmeme

George Serradinho February 21, 2010 at 1:01 pm

@Tinh – it sounds great, but I don’t like to have many plugins installed. I’m using some code, but it does not display the count. I don’t think the count is that important to me, just my opinion.

consumer credit counseling February 23, 2010 at 8:26 am

I have just made it available via using code instead of using a plugin as I want to lower the amount of plugins I’m using. I’m currently on 20 and need to bring it down to 10 or lower.

George Serradinho February 23, 2010 at 10:51 am

@consumer credit counseling – having 20 is very good, but it all depends what kinds of plugins. Having 10 or lower would mean that your website is very bare or has no functionality, that’s my opinion only.

I have other alternatives for adding Google Buzz button on either Blogger or Wordpress platform and here is the link for the noobish tutorial: Google Buzz it Button for Blogger and Wordpress Blogs

George Serradinho March 9, 2010 at 8:39 am

@bloggerGeeze – I have also not used a WP plugin, but code. I find it easier to do and it also keeps the number of WP plugins to a minimum.
