#1 Keyword variations: Use as many keyword variations as you can. Before writing the post keep the list of important keywords in your mind.
As an example I am keeping “SEO tips” “drive maximum traffic blog” and few more keywords in my mind. I will try to use as many keyword combination as I can. Remember, don’t overdo anything, it will hurt your blog ranking if Google finds you doing keyword stuffing.
#2 Write a lengthy post: Writing a long post always gives you a chance to stuff more keywords in your post. More keywords means more chance of getting better search engine position. This is the main reason why people writes a list post. List post is always beneficial for your SEO tactics.
#3 Use of bad boys: See the heading of the post. I have used h3 tags in this post. H1,H2,H3,H4,H5,H6 tags are always helpful to stuff the important keywords in the post. Search engines always gives more importance to H tags which I call it as a bad boys. Don’t overuse H tags to stuff your keywords. Keep it small and simple.
#4 Title: Title is one of the most important factor of any search engine optimization (SEO) technique. Read the first line again. See how I have used “(SEO)” in the title. This gives me the chance to use “SEO technique” and “search engine optimization technique” keywords as a targeted keywords for my post. You can use same technique for your H tags as well. Remember that your title length should not exceed 60 characters.
Additional SEO Tips To Increase Traffic
#1 SEO optimized theme: Always use search engine optimized themes. One of the best example of SEO optimized theme is thesis theme. Thesis theme lets you define custom meta tags,meta description and meta keywords in your post. I have seen a sudden jump in my blog traffic which I will be posting soon on my blog. My traffic jumped from 6000+ to 23,000+ within a month after using SEO optimized WordPress theme. You should also install all-in-one SEO wordpress plugin to add custom title tag and insert the keywords in the post.
#2 Keyword research tool: Use keyword analysis tools like Google external keyword tool. Look for the keywords you like. If you find a better keyword then change your post accordingly. I added “SEO tactics” as a keyword from keyword analysis tool. You can check this post to see how many times I have used “SEO tactics” keyword including this point 
#3 Commenting: Bloggers often ignore this part. I always start commenting on dofollow blog with commentluv wordpress plugin installed on it as soon as I hit publish button. It provides a solid backlinks to my post which means a higher search engine ranking position.

I think a lot of people are terrified when it comes to blog SEO, but it is a simple thing to do and using simple tools as you have mentioned does help, it’s just a case that if you are keen about blogging then taking time on a post is important and adding SEO in the correct places is a must.

Yes stuffing keywords can get you banned from search engine. One should be more careful while using the keywords in the post.

I think stuffing keywords is bad, but roundups work really well and they can get you in the top spot, pretty easily

If I were looking for SEO services and read both paragraphs above, I’d choose #2 every time. #1 seems amateurish and so obviously overdoing it, it looks silly.
Many might say #1 is a textbook definition of keyword stuffing, sorry. Also, “3-4 week or within a month” doesn’t even make sense; 3-4 weeks IS within a month.
First rule of good SEO; never ever interrupt the reader experience. Always write for the reader first and search engines second. (You might be able to bend this rule slightly for a niche site where ALL your traffic is coming from search engines…slightly.)
This is the reason I do 98% of my per article SEO after the article is written.

I agree that #1 paragraph is bit silly. All I want to convince is apart from writing a content for readers you should also worry about SEO. BTW it was an example only. I do not offer any SEO service. I am simple blogger like you.
Good SEO never interrupt readers experience? I never said to interrupt readers experience. It is how smartly you insert the keyword and use the keyword variations in the post.
One of the best example of good SEO strategy is my blog itself. Till last month I was getting 6000+ visits per month but within a month it shoot up to 24,000+.
Would you call it accident?

Did you really say, “…chance to stuff more keywords in your post”? You don’t want to be stuffing in keywords. Not good SEO and really not good for the reader! Ack! I’m also unsure how much the lower level head tags help.
Still, I’m totally with you on the Thesis theme. Love it!

I just mean to say that lengthy post gives you more chance to define your favorite keywords in the post. SEO is always about limits once you learn it you will be able to get maximum exposure out of it.
Even I doubt how lower level tags are useful. As far as I know h1,h2,h3 tags are really useful. But one should be more careful with h1,h2 tags.
But low level tags are still better than highlighting the keywords. If you note carefully then I have not used any low level tags in this post nor I have mentioned about using it.

I have not tried thesis theme personally. I feel that there is no use of such plugin as thesis theme servers the purpose of SEO.
I would like to hear the opinion of George on this as he has been using thesis for a long time.

@Ricky and @Paramjit – you can use the plugin with Thesis theme although there is an SQL statement that can be run to copy the details to new fields of Thesis.I use to use the plugin, but removed it once I moved over to Thesis.

SEO is very important, and it is wonderful to welcome it in when you run your own site. Learning about any aspect of web development when being involved in such a medium, becomes very much a part of one’s own enthusiasm in radiating their message out to the world.
I’ve just checked my own SEO Score and it’s 88%. That is a very unexpected result, and I’m happy with it at the same time as I know how much I put love I put into my site and that includes the work that comes with it.

Well said Ricky: Page titles are the single most important on-page factor for search engine optimisation (all things considered).
The blog commenting advice, however, I would change into “getting links”. Blog commenting should only be 1 side of your link building strategy. Directories, press release sites, CSS galleries, social media sites etc… should all be used to make your link profile look “natural”. Even link exchange and link request can still bring some nice inbound links. And don’t ignore nofollow blogs either!

@Tom – spot on about commenting being 1 option. I have been testing nofollow tactic and it’s ok. You do sometimes get some stupid comments where users have not even read the post at all, they are just looking for some Google juice. I do delete their comments and keep an eye out for such comments.
Ricky, these are great suggestions for beginners. In my opinion, the best of all is keyword selection, a common beginner mishap. If you do not write about what people are searching for, and use the keywords properly, nobody will visit their sites.

Use anchor links to link to other posts on your blog. I love doing this. But if I could use a plugin that would automatically create pre-defined anchor links, would be awesome!
