Although it is not possible to improve your bandwith or data transmission rates without hardware upgrades, there are a few simple ways to improve your wireless connection.

1. Use equipment from a single vendor – Before even setting up a wireless connection, try to buy all of your hardware from the same company. Compatibility matters greatly for two-way transmission, and some companies add performance boosters that improve signal strength and speed when using their hardware.
2. Use password protection – It’s easy to do, and as long as you’re paying for it you should protect other people from getting it for free. The more people using your router, the slower the connection will be for you. You can set your own WPA or WEP password through your router.
3. Position your router better – It seems obvious, but the location of the router can make a huge difference. It should be in a central location off the floor and away from metal objects. Filing cabinets and brick walls can make the signal weaker, so look for a place away from obstructions.
4. Connect closely to the phone line – Along with choosing a good position for the router, you should plug it in to the phone line as closely as possible. Use the shortest amount of cable between the router and socket, so avoid extension cords and use the master socket, instead.
5. Reduce Interference – Because wireless Internet is an electronic signal, it is competing with other similar signals in your home. This includes wireless phones, baby monitors, garage doors, and even microwave ovens. Avoid wireless electronics that use a 2.4GHz frequency.
6. Change the WiFi Channel – Because so many other electronics are operating on the same frequency, you may try changing the channel to avoid excess traffic. Many routers are pre-set to a default channel 6 out of 11 channels. Look for online wireless networking tools to help you change the frequency.
7. Replace the antenna or network adapter – This is a simple hardware fix that could pay off well. Since antennas are set to broadcast in all directions, you may be losing half of the signal if the router is near an outside wall. Consider a hi-gain antenna that focuses the signal in one direction. Your computer must also send the signal back to the router, which is where a higher-quality network adapter may help, especially with desktop computers.
8. Add a wireless repeater – A wireless repeater placed halfway between your wireless access point and the computer will boost the signal strength without requiring extra wiring.
9. Update your firmware or your network adapter driver – Go to your router manufacturer website to check for free software updates. This will fix bugs and possibly even give you more features.
10. Check for applications running in the background – Your computer may run update programs in the background that can affect your broadband speed. These programs transfer data to a remote server, so by temporally disabling them you may increase your speed slightly.

Well, this article is dedicated to all the bloggers who are struggling to come up in google search results. To start with let me say that, I am not a expert blogger or something, but I have been blogging for some one & half years from now & I just want to share my experience.

• Update blog - The first main thing you should do is keep your blog updated at-least twice or thrice a week, since Google indexes only latest & updated sites. A cunning tip that I found useful was, update your old article with some more additional useful content if you cannot put new articles regularly, this too will work in a very positive way.
• Article title - Your article title should reflect the contents of the article, this is because when someone search something in Google he/she sees only a small part of your article and the title is the one which makes him click on your link or not. So choose the title wisely.
• Google News – This one tip helped me a lot in getting a hell lot of visitors, check Google news regularly, for example: my site is about mobile phones and I always check the technology updates on Google news which shows the latest launches & prices of mobile phone & I update my site accordingly. This will work because Google always shows the news that are current hot topics, so if you update your site accordingly then your site will surely top in the search results.
• Contents - Not only a good title helps you but you should also have unique & quality contents, because your visitor should trust on your contents, then only he will return back to your site. Not only that much, if you are lucky enough, he will also spread the news about your site. Also see that the contents are not available elsewhere on the internet. Search for such topics using Google Trends.
• Sitemap - Do not forget this. You need to submit your sitemap to Google by registering yourself & your site at the Google Webmasters tools. This will help Google to index your site faster and crawl your site so that it can show up your website link in its search.
• Meta description - Your site should have a very explanatory meta description so that your readers will come to know what your site is about. Also Google shows this description in search results, so make it clever enough but not too long or too short, about 150 characters maximum. Apart from this a big false assumption is that putting a lot of meta tags will help your site to get lot of traffic from Google, but it was true some 5-10 years back and now Google won’t use the meta tags to index any website.

But in all honesty, constructing quality copy that attracts buyers, increases conversions, and persuades readers that they must have a particular product, does not require the writer to be a legendary wordsmith – all it takes is for the author to understand a few simple rules about social psychology and the principle of influence.

The Power of Positivism

People are subconsciously influenced by certain words. Psychological research has proven that when people are given a list of words that are associated with strong positive aspects, like ‘dynamic, incredible, influential, and powerful’ they will apply these concepts to any material that they read thereafter.

This is especially true if these terms are presented at the beginning of the material, though there is evidence to suggest that placing these positively charged words throughout content will also inspire readers to subconsciously attach a more optimistic outlook to whatever they read.

Words such as ‘maybe, should, might, and sort of’ are negative and suggest apprehension and a lack of assuredness. Using these words in copy tends to suggest that the writer does not believe in the power of the product, or service. Negative words can be used to provide a masked impartiality but should be carefully placed – they should never be used to start or end copy.

The idea is to drive readers towards optimism and force them into the right frame of mind. People act on initial impressions and tend to relate to the first influences they receive. If the first chapter of a book is tiresome and laborious, that is a book that is nearly always placed back on the shelf. Attention spans are fleeting and there is a small window in which to send out the right signals.

Words contained at the beginning of copy can subconsciously influence how the rest of the content is received. If these are positive terms, readers will likely continue projecting these values onto whatever product, or service, they are reading about – without ever realizing they are being subconsciously impartial.

Readers will even go as far as manipulating the rest of the copy to fit their initial impressions. People like to think they know best and most will go out of their way to blindly ignore any content that does not fit their initial perception of a product, or service – a perception that has been heavily influenced by the inclusion of positive wording at the start of the copy.

Put the reader in a positive frame of mind right from the start. There is no need to over-hype and hard sell – positive thinking can be initiated without the use of obvious sales pitching. Simply mentioning a product, or service, in an encouraging and constructive manner will start the whole process.

By using positive words to influence the mindset of a reader, you can use the principle of influence to gently project a positive outlook in a person at a subconscious level.

As a father of a child, it makes me proud to say that Tyron is definitely following in his fathers foot steps. Yes, I’m bragging a bit, but who wouldn’t if their child made them proud. It’s only natural if you ask me, right?

Tyron is attending Farrarmere Primary School in Benoni and is doing well in school work and even sport. Anyway, when I was a youngster attending school, I use to do very well in sports and my grades were not that bad. I never got straight A’s, but I would average between a D and B in most of my subjects.

I played soccer throughout my school days and I was not bad at all, I dreamed of one day playing pro soccer. I played for a club called Arcadia and made it all the way to just under professional soccer in South Africa. Yes, I was one level away of fulfilling my dream and even had tryouts overseas in Madeira. Lets just say that the goalkeeper had more skill than me, lol. My eyes were open and eventually came back to South Africa and now work in the information technology department doing programming.

Let me get back to Tyron now. Tyron was selected by his school to participate in 7-a-side soccer tournament which was held at Irene Primary School on the 14th of August 2010.

When I picked Tyron up on Friday, I was given some documents that contained what time we had to be there, what they wanted the players to wear and of course the schedule for the games.

His side was scheduled to play 5 games starting at 9am and finishing at 12pm. We had to be at the school at 8am, so it was not that bad for me. We did not have to get up too early, we could sleep a bit later than I do during the week for work and that was a bonus

When Tyron and I arrived at Irene Primary School, there were loads of boys and girls running all over the place. I could see all the mommies and daddies chasing their kids around and trying to keep the order, but they had no chance of succeeding. I met Tyron’s coach which they all call Mr T, it’s short for Mr Tebo. Tyron was the tallest player in their team and I was not surprised at all, he takes after his mother in that respect.

They played a total of 5 games with the results being:

• 1 win
• 3 draws
• and only lost 1

They did very well for not playing soccer for sometime and received bronze medals. He was so happy and recons he is going to receive many medals in his life time. I asked why and he said and I quote

I’m only 8 years old now and I already have 3 medals.

I just smiled and maybe giggled a bit, it was just so cute how he said it. I guess that seeing all my medals at home has inspired him to be successful.

• Extract the ZIP archive named wp-faq.zip in order to be presented with a single folder named wp-faq
• Upload the wp-faq folder to the wp-content/plugins/ directory of your WordPress installation. If you are upgrading, overwrite all existing plugin files from an older version
• Access the ‘Plugins’ panel in your WordPress Dashboard once logged in as administrator
• Activate the FAQs plugin if it isn’t already active.
• Access the ‘FAQs’ administration menu item and the submenus to manage the FAQs

2. FAQ Menu Basics:

Once the FAQ plugin is installed, it will create a menu whereby one can navigate the settings. The menu consists of a few links and they are:

• Overview
• Groups
• Questions
• Configuration
• Support and Help

I feel the plugin developers have done a great job in adding the menu and have not over done it by adding to many links. It’s simple and straight forward to understand for any kind of user.

2.1 Menu – Overview

This displays the total number of groups and questions that have been created. This is a great feature to have as it shows you the basic count of details.

2.2 Menu – Groups

You can have questions that form part of different groups to make it easier to identify and relate to. This is extremely helpful if one has many different questions that relate to different sections or groups.

• Title: the group title to be used and shown on your website
• Search Box: one can decide to either enable or disable the search functionality
• Ask Box: you can decide to either have the functionality whereby users can submit questions
• Active Status: the admin can either make the group and questions in that group to be active or not. If not active, then the group will not be displayed
• Keywords/Tags: I think this option is a must and will enhanced the search functionality to better find what you are looking for
• Save WordPress Post/Page: this is an awesome feature to have as it will automatically create a post or page if selected. This helps beginner users.

2.3 Menu – Questions

This is where you will enter the question details and answer. One also has the option to select which group the question belongs to and if the question is active or not.

The plugin developers have really done an awesome job in making the questions page look similar to when a user creates a page or post for their website.

This will surely make the user feel confident as they already know the format and procedure.

2.4 Menu – Configuration

This is where the basic settings are set up and this can be altered at any time. I feel the developers have done a great job in what settings can be changed and what is available to the admin.

• User Level Access: here you have the option of who can use the FAQ plugin. This helps as then you can select administrators to only be able to access it
• Permission to Ask Questions: who is able to ask questions can either be set to registered users or all users
• Admin Notifications: this is used to send the admin an email when a question is asked. I find this option to be important as one does not login every day to check details and this will notify the admin that an action is required
• Admin Email: here you can enter the admin’s email address or even just an email address. You also have the option of entering multiple email addresses if need be
• Admin Actions on Front: this is purely for the admin’s use and simplifies the editing and deleting of questions and answers from the front end.
• Search Context: when the search functionality is used, it can either be set to search only the questions or the questions and answers. Although it would be obvious to me that one would like to search both the questions and answers, others could have different views.
• Use Captcha for Questions: this is a rather cool feature, but others might disagree. You are required to install the ‘Really Simple Captcha plugin’ if this option is selected.

2.5 Menu – Support and Help

The support page is rather plain and simple and has 3 links namely:

• a link back to the product page
• a link to documentation
• and a link to submit a ticket

The ticket system in place is easy to use and the response time is super quick, support and help are just a few clicks away.

3. Cost of Premium Plugin

Well, one would normally think that the cost of a premium theme would be high, but this is not the case with WordPress FAQs plugin. They currently offer 2 types of licenses for the plugin and they are:

I’m sure you have seen some websites whereby they display the time span of the post and you wonder how it was done. This is a very simple technique and can be implemented in less than 5 minutes.

Please make sure you backup your themes custom_functions.php or functions.php file before you try this.

This tutorial has been written for WordPress theme users and this simple function can be inserted within your functions.php/custom_functions.php file.

All you have to do is copy and paste the function from the download file and then reference it where you want it displayed. It should not take you longer than 5 minutes to implement.

Google will only show sitelinks for results when we think they’ll be useful to the user. If the structure of your site doesn’t allow our algorithms to find good sitelinks, or they don’t think that the sitelinks for your site are relevant for the user’s query, we won’t show them.
