Well all know about Digg or other communities whereby you can share and vote for your favorite posts. Well, Shoutmeme is no different and seems to be another site to add to your current list to visit and vote on.
This Digg like site is very new and some of you might have already heard about it. If not, then carry on reading below and find out more about it.
Shoutmeme, which officially launched on 3rd of February 2010 in India by a good friend of mine, namely Surender. It caters for the Indian community and it’s a place for publishers to come together and share their views, comments and vote for their favorite posts. Surender compares it closely to Digg and refers to it as a clone.

Examples of Shoutmeme Buttons
Shoutmeme Blog
Although Shoutmeme is still new and only started this month, they already have a blog setup and there are currently a few short posts. I know that the blog will grow in time and I’m hoping it will be another blog I can add to my list to visit.
Last 3 blog posts:
- Welcome to the ShoutMeme Official Blog
- ShoutMeme is now on Twitter for latest Updates
- Thumbnails Integration of Submitted Story’s Url
I can say that the blog has a similar look and feel as Shoutmeme, they have blended it nicely and loads fast. I can see it is using one of the most powerful themes available on the net today. Yes, it’s the Thesis theme, which I know will increase it’s SEO status and also shows me that they mean serious business.
Shoutmeme on Twitter
You can also follow Shoutmeme on Twitter if you want, go ahead and add them to your following list and you might be overwelmed by what you see. You will get updates of great posts being submitted and you can start voting for the best ones.

A previous post of mine, actually a review about Twarks is about having a professional twitter background and what difference it makes. If you have not read it, go and see what I had to say.
You want your twitter page to be unique, stand out and make a good impression on the visitor.
Final Thought
So, go ahead and see what Shoutmeme is all about. Go and register and start voting for your best posts.

ShoutMeme Team´s last blog ..Serious Monday Roundup #25
@Shoutmeme Team – good luck and hope things work out and it becomes bigger than Digg. This was my way of promoting it to my readers/visitors.
I still like Digg. Besides I couldn’t get the same backlink like Digg fro this new social bookmarking site.
Palabuzz´s last blog ..Lindsay lohan is topless on Machete
@Palabuzz – to get a good backlink from digg now is very hard, it would be easier to start of with Shoutmeme as it will become bigger and bigger in time.
It’s good for new blogger as it may be easy to get in front page on Shoutmeme.
Arafat Hossain Piyada´s last blog ..Download AnyBizSoft PDF to Word Converter For Free
@Arafat – you are so correct. It might be easy now, but maybe not when it becomes famous. Maybe start now and get more traffic and maybe you’ll get more than you bargained for
Okay, I’ll check it out and see how it works for me….thanks!

Tinh´s last blog ..Facebook Reaches 400 Million Users On 6th Birthday
The site looks simple, clean and easy to navigate. Another plus is that the site is do-follow. Like you said, it’s hard to get a do-follow link from Digg these days so many people are looking for good alternatives.
@Emma – dofollow does help a lot, but you still have to make sure you are a power user or that your posts are featured.
I am a Reddit fan boy. Digg and Digg like sites don’t have community like reddit.
arun kamath´s last blog ..Koreans watch Avatar in 4D
Here’s to hoping it’s friendlier the DIGG.

Dennis Edell´s last blog ..Here We Go! Theme Construction Part 1 – Your Participation Is Wanted-Needed!
Well, most of the advantage of the site like Digg is the network.
Of course, that’s a chicken-and-egg scenario, since you can’t have the network without members, and members don’t want to sign up without the network.
However, another way of looking at it is if you sign up as one of the early members, you may have a chance to be one of the “superusers” that have a lot of influence on the site.
By the way, even though the site was developed by an Indian, does it have a world focus?
J @ The Digital Life & Tools Blog´s last blog ..Updating Your WordPress Blog Too Frequently: Avoiding Getting Banned from Ping Services
Hi there,

ShoutMeme Team´s last blog ..SimplePress: The Best Thesis Theme Skin for Magazine Sites
@ShoutMeme Team – maybe speak to some plugin developers to add a button to their plugins to share with your site. Example is SexyBookmarks mentioned by user izzat azit.
@J – you are so right about what you wrote, get in early and be on top.
Well I think it’s at least worth a shot, after all sites like Digg, Reddit and the like have to start somewhere.
There is a Digg like site related to only health stories/articles that as an Alexa ranking less than 25,000 now. It started just like this.
Good Luck

iWoodpecker´s last blog ..Let This Girl Survive – A Lump of Ice Fell on Her Head Right From the Roof of Multi-Floored Building – on 5th February, 2010
@iWoodpecker – let me know what you think later after using it for a while.
sure I will , but errors creeping in while trying to add the button code to blogger blogs. Shoutmeme buttons & badges page @ http://shoutmeme.com/tools looks little crappy and the code seems to have some errors.
Here is the button code I have used -
Error received when added:
==> Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: The reference to entity “title” must end with the ‘;’ delimiter.<==
this error is due to &title in the code which can be changed to &title – even then the button code isn't working. There is some fault with " and &apos I think. Please debug the button code and update me so that I can add it to my blog.
Thanks in advance
ramaraobobby´s last blog ..How To Add Facebook Status Updates in Blogger Blogs
@ramaraobobby – the button works fine on my blog which is self-hosted. I will bring this to attention of Shoutmeme Team. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi there,
Thanks for your Feedback about error.
This was due to code customization online. But now the problem has been solved. You can add the button code in your blog easily without any hassles.
Cheers

Looks like this site has a lot of potential. I am interested in this because I have been focusing on smaller niche communities as opposed to the big guys like Digg.
Tycoon Blogger´s last blog ..Dramatically improve your blog in one night
@Tycoon Blogger – ok, give it a try and let me know what you think. All feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

chandan´s last blog ..The Super Bowl 2010
@chandan – go have a look as it’s still very new. Get in on it while early and you could become a power user
Shoutmeme has a long way to go yet, where as digg can be found everywhere in each of the site on internet almost, so it cant be called as a threat to the digg.
@Lars Fich – yes, but you have to start somewhere. Digg is popular, but is also hard to get noticed.
It appears very much like Blog Engage! But I want to advice one thing to everyone her. Use this service before it gets famous, because the more you wait the lesser popularity you will have in this network. If you are an user since its starting days then you may get some special advantage form the owner of this Start-up.
@Rohit – you are so correct in what you say, I started very early and will continue to use it.
Hmm… more new services! hope that its better than Digg bro!

Pubudu Kodikara´s last blog ..How To Turn Off Windows Indexing Service
@Pududu – it might not be as good as Digg now, but the future will tell and hope to see it thrive.
You mentioned that this caters to the Indian community–does that mean that only Indian-specific websites or news are accepted?
Slick theme.
@Mormon – I think it was targetted for India community, but I know it’s open to all now. I have submitted scoops (aka posts) and I’m not Indian, lol
