Thesis 1.6 Beta – Selecting Theme colours

In the new version of Thesis (1.6 beta), there are so many choices when it comes to selecting colours for you site. As you can see from my post, Just upgraded to Thesis Theme 1.6b Now, I upgraded yesterday and loving it.

Sections with colour selections:

  • Body (and Content Area) – site background color, page background color, primary text color, primary link color, add a cool shadow effect to your layout and show interior layout borders.
  • Nav Menu – link color, link hover color, current link color, link background color, hover background color, current background color, nav border width (px), nav border color and submenu width (px).
  • Header – header text color and tagline text color.
  • Headlines – headlines text color and sub-headlines text color.
  • Bylines and Post Meta Data – bylines and post meta data text color.
  • Code – code text color.
  • Multimedia Box – text color, image box background color, video box background color and custom box background color.
  • Sidebars – sidebars text color and sidebar headings text color
  • Footer – footer text color.

The images below are just some examples as to what you will see with the new version.

With these options available, it makes it easier to change colours on your site as it’s just a few clicks away. You might still have some styling in your custom.css file for the sections mentioned above, but it will be the basic settings.

When you click on the colour setting, a little window appears whereby you can select a colour of choice from the colour palette. You can make the colour brighter or darker. You can see an example above.

Final Thought

Although I like the new version a lot, I feel that they could of had a few more like the widgets background colour, making font bold or not or having more font sizes, etc.

In previous version of Thesis it was not easy to customize the navigation system on thesis theme using simple steps. It was too hectic to customize the CSS file of custom theme.
New version is really wonderful with easy styling system of Navigation. No need to edit CSS.
Even one of the best feature I have noticed that is easy CSS and custom_function editor on the Thesis panel.
What did you notice in thesis other than above mentioned features?

I don’t know if there’s any other themes than can compete with Thesis. It’s getting better/easier/interesting from time to time

@steppinout – I agree with you, but other might not. Although Thesis is evolving a lot, there are still a few things which they can add to enhance it more. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens later this year or maybe even next year.

Too bad that I don’t have a developer license, I’m curious why they just give it to developer license holder too. Anyway, I’m going to upgrade my license if I decide to use Thesis in my other blogs. :)

Serradinho, your thesis theme is looked nicer compare from the first time I visited your blog. I believe that I will see something special in your blog in coming days. You’re good in thesis customization. :D

Regards,
Lee

@Lee Ka Hoong – as I play around more with Thesis, I find better ways of doing things. I think they give it to developer’s first as they are the people who probably got so many customizations out that they will be able to see if there are any serious issues. I upgraded this week and it’s much better.

@Liane – you are correct. I think the more users that use it the more ideas and features will be released. As other themes also develop, we push the boundaries of the developers even more and so themes are always developing and changing.
