I was checking out how I would manually diplay future scheduled posts on my homepage with the Thesis theme after checking out the WordPress plugin Display Scheduled Posts and came up with the following solution.
I have nothing against the author of the plugin, but I like to keep my list of plugins installed to a minimum and this is one way to do so. I actually downloaded the plugin and checked how it was done and changed it to a function that can be called.
After some time of trying a few things, I had it working and even put it in a coloured box. You can copy the basics of the code and styling and change it where you want or need to.
This customization is for the homepage and will display after the teasers section. You could adapt this function to display on any page you desire.
Example of scheduled posts output
As you can see from the image below, the scheduled posts section will display after the teasers on the home page. This will display the title of the post as well as the date it is scheduled for.

Your function code
All you need to do is copy the function and place it in your custom_functions.php file. You can change the heading and the paragraph wording that will appear as it displays my site details. You can also display this on category pages by adding is_category() within the first if statement.
Your CSS Styling Code
All you need to do is copy the css styling and place it in your custom.css file. You can play around with the background colour of the box, the box width and the font size.

Thesis Tutorial - Display Scheduled Posts
The download was made available on 25 November 2009 and is in zip format. The file size is 984 bytes and has currently been downloaded 353 times.
I have edited this post and put the CSS and PHP in a text file. Download the zipped file and get it working on your site in less than 10 minutes.
Other Thesis Customizations I’ve posted about
I have written a few posts about customizing Thesis and you could go have a look and see what you would like to do.

Or you could go visit one of my guest posts over at ThesisThemeHQ.com
This customization is not only for Thesis, but can be adapted for other themes which have a functions file.
Question and opinions
I would like to know what your opinion is about showing scheduled posts and if you would use this method ? I also wanted to use this, but I changed my mind as I did not want others to see what I was going to be publishing in the near future. I thought they might post about the same topics before mine was published.

Nowadays I am thinking why Thesis is so much popular?
.-= BlogrPro´s last blog ..Uniqueness in Blogging! How to do? – Part 4 =-.
@BlogPro – you can do so much customizing that it’s unbelievable and it helps when the support group is so big as Thesis is.
I agree with George. Thesis was the first premium theme I bought and I appreciate it every day. The best thing is that everything is so worked through. It’s easy to customize and therefore great when you want to create a unique theme.

@Stefan – thanks for those words, it’s nice to know others appreciate it a lot.
That scheduled post code is a pretty good. Thanks Greg Ellison
.-= Greg Ellison´s last blog ..Google Custom Search Engine =-.
@Greg – I got it from a plugina and then adapted it to work without the plugin.
Ohh..This is pretty cool..Will keep the readers interested…
.-= Compute Live´s last blog ..Straight from Google: What You Need to Know – Matt Cutts =-.
@Compute Live – will keep them interest, but someone could steal your idea and get the information out first. It depends I guess.
I think some visitors might be interested in decide to check back or subscribe if they are interested to read about one of your topics. With that said I’m afraid, just like you, some people will use it to publish similar posts before you do.
I will probably never use it.

That is definitely a cool plugin. I am going to check it out right now!
After reading all your posts on Thesis and seeing how great your blog is turning out… we are getting very close to taking the plunge and buying it so we can play around with it on our other blogs.

@Doug – cool, let me know when you take the plunge. Would like to see what you guys come up with.
I really wish I didn’t just recently have my theme redesigned, I would love to give the Thesis theme a shot it seems as if it’s loaded with features.

I have to praise you for this George. Wordpress theme modifications (Thesis especially) and plug-ins is where you best excel. Keep it up! I really think this will boost up your authority as well as your seo rankings (a lot of bloggers are searching for the stuffs you frequently post about).
.-= Liane YoungBlogger´s last blog ..There’s a New Kid on the Make Money Online Block – Meet DaneBlogger Dot Com =-.
@Liane – thanks for those kind words. I can honestly say that I like to play around and see how others do it.
I worked with Thesis for a buddy who wanted to customise it. Really at first usage even I was wondering what is so exceptional about it. But after playing with it for some time, I finally found that this baby is a real masterpiece.
Using Thesis Open Hook make things easier again. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/thesis-openhook/
.-= Kurt Avish´s last blog ..5 Free Romantic Couples Games =-.
@Kurt – I also have the Open Hook plugin installed, but I like to code more in the functions file.
I have a doubt about Thesis. If i customize it to get a brand new look and can i give it for free online?
You are free to customize it the way you want..and with developer license you can use it on n no of blogs.. But I think you can’t give it or resell it …
.-= Blogspot to wordpress´s last blog ..Deploying Java Web App : Creating war file with JDeveloper =-.
@Harsh – you are correct in saying that.
@TechZoomIn – I don’t think that is possible, it would be like stealing code and passing it on as your own. Maybe you should contact Thesis, but I doubt what you want to do is legal.
Hey Grorge
Code seems to be great and work perfectly.. But what’s the purpose of Showing it on your blog?? Any Benefit…if I think from a SEO perspective…I think it will be a bad idea to show schedule post…
.-= Blogspot to wordpress´s last blog ..Matt Cutt Insight on Wordpress SEO : WordCamp San Francisco 2009 =-.
@Harsh – you first are not showing any links to your future posts. I posted about this as there was a plugin and just wanted to show others that you could always do what they do. You could use this to show others what’s still to come.
These has brought about a revolution in the theme industry. Many of the blogs I visit use Thesis. I am planning to buy one myself too because there is a lot to do in it.[I mean customization]
.-= Tech-Freak Stuff´s last blog ..Symptoms of Swine Flu in Geeks [Funny] =-.
@Tech-Freak Stuff – well, the choice is yours. You can customize it a lot and it depends on your expertise I guess.
This is one really really cool function you’ve written Serra…I’m definitely going to be using it…after reworking the css a bit…
@Nash – I can’t believe you wrote Serra? Some of my friends call me that, a short version of my surname.
hey sorry if that came across as a bit too personal…
I guess I was just carried away with the coolness of the function you wrote…
