Using Thesis Theme now

Hi all,

I just wanted to say that I’m not using my previous theme anymore and have updated to the Thesis theme. I’m still playing around with a few things, so please be patient as there will be site updates for the next couple of days until I am happy with the look and feel.

What I changed already:

  • I changed the header to include my site logo. I had to check the forum for the css code, not to hard to add the new css in my custom file.
  • I added a border to my site with a background. I still would like to use an image, but still trying to find the right one.
  • I have had to adjust some of my pages as my previous theme showed child pages and Thesis does not.
  • I had to fix up my Google search page, it was not working at all.
  • I installed Thesis OpenHook plugin – you can have a look at what it really does here. This is a very handy plugin that saves me loads of time.

What I still would like  to do:

  • I like the small author bio box at the bottom of the post like on ShoutMeLoud website. Harsh says he will make a post about it and I just can’t wait.
  • Move the navigation menu to under my site logo.
  • Change background color to an image.
  • Add Adsense to my site.
  • Maybe have a look at my sidebars and try and make it unique
  • getting my links, sitemap and contact page up again and in order. My old theme had templates for theme and Thesis does not.

I know there are still loads for me to do to get my site to be unique and that is why it will take a couple of days or even weeks.

If you don’t know Thesis, then there are three movies below you can watch to find out more about Thesis. Go have a look.

I have not put any affiliate links in this post like I see many other do when they write a post about Thesis. I have instead just added 2 banners in my sidebar for that, so feel free to click on any links.

I would like to know what you think and what other changes you would like to see on Serradinho.com.

really like the new looks !!
But; on my screen it doesn’t totally “fit”- so I have a slider on the bottom to move my screen to the right.

Grr..everybody is changing to Thesis. It makes me jealous :D

“I added a border to my site with a background. I still would like to use an image, but still trying to find the right one.”
Wish I knew enough CSS to do that..I might need to “steal” it from your site’s layout with my Firefox extensions if u don’t mind ;)

You are doing a wonderful job, and sounds like you are having a great time too, which makes it all a part of the integral experience. Well done on the changes made, and the ones you are currently in progress of doing. These all sound very exciting, and like you I have similiar interest in changes. Soon, will get down and work on my site. Have only been changing little snippets, and I feel inspired to be more creative with it when I see other bloggers like yourself, sharing such fulfilling experiences about their creativeness in experience, through the art of Website Development. I too love working on the website space, as its such a great part of my imagination. Nice to drop by.

Hi, I am a newbie blogger needing advice. I have been following your blog since you were using the One-Theme. I wanted to know, why you chose to switch from One-Theme to the Thesis theme. I am currently using the Comfy Theme, but since I don’t know any programming, I am unable to change the layout of my theme. Do you think, the One-Theme or the Thesis theme is better for a newbie who does not know any programming. Thank you for your advice.

Hi George,

I’m impressed. I wanted to know what version of Thesis you are using?

George Serradinho August 21, 2009 at 3:50 pm

@Anton – I’m using the latest version. I see you are using version 1.3.3. I suggest you upgrade. Can I ask you why you are using such an old version?

Anton Amoto August 21, 2009 at 4:31 pm

I’m still playing around the old Thesis theme environment. I will upgrade very soon.
