Just a quick shout out to everyone that WordPress 2.8 is out and you can upgrade now. This version has so many new features that it is just mind blowing what the developers are capable of.
Backup your database and files before upgrading
You can upgrade automatically by logging into your admin panel and going to ‘Tools’ panel. There you will see a button to upgrade. If you would like to download WordPress 2.8 and then upload the files manually, then you can get it here.
This release is named in honor of noted trumpeter and vocalist Chet Baker.

@Hesham – thanks for adding me, I went and saw it and commented as well.
I am now using this version alongsid, the new version of Thesis. The new Thesis update was made to work with this new version of Wordpress.
The Widget drop down and across, doesn’t seem to work as well, (with me anyway) so I have the accessibility mode enabled, for easier access which I find is more coherent than the 2.7 version by having all the options in one box.

@Ana – Wow, you must be the first person I know that does not like it. Everyone to his/her own.
I have not upgraded my WordPress 2.7.1 blog to this latest release, because I am waiting for the plugin and theme developers to catch up. However, I am working on an existing WordPress blog with a client, and I am still enjoying its new features. I still prefer seeing those list of plugins as separate groups – not color coded whether they are activated or not. I love the color-coded editor though.

@Gem – I suggest you upgrade, don’t be scared of change as all things change in time.
Hello George,
You have have misunderstood what I wrote.
I did not say I didn’t like anything.
I said the Widget option under Appearance in the AP does not fully move the widgets into the sidebars, when on a draggable option. (I wonder if it works for others?)
So, I have the Widget option on the accessibility mode, which is a good upgrade of Wordpress.
I also said mentioned, that the new version of Thesis is a good integration and update for the new version of Wordpress.
Overall I am pleased with the updates, on either end.
@Ana – my bad
No worries.
